Talk up your brand.

A rejected listing can cost you days. Most rejections come from the same handful of problems: weak images, a wrong category, missing attributes or incomplete shipping details. Whether you add a product by hand, with the Excel template or through a sync app, the same checks apply, so it helps to run through them every time.

Start with your images

TikTok Shop accepts one to nine images per product, in JPG, JPEG or PNG format. Each image should be at least 600 by 600 pixels and under 10 MB. Your main image should show the whole item without distracting elements, and none of your images should carry watermarks, promotional text or unrelated graphics. Extra angles and close-ups help shoppers understand what they are buying and tend to reduce returns.

Write a clear title

A good title is between 25 and 200 characters and tells shoppers exactly what the product is. Include useful details such as the brand, the product type, the main features, and the material, color or size. Leave out URLs, seller names, promotional claims and keywords that have nothing to do with the product. If your title includes a protected brand name, TikTok Shop may ask for brand authorization, so have it ready.

Get the category, brand and attributes right

TikTok suggests categories based on your images and title, but check the suggestion yourself and choose the closest accurate one. A wrong category makes your product harder to find and can lead to rejection. Select the correct brand, and choose No brand only if the product is genuinely unbranded. Then complete the attributes that appear for your category, such as color, material, pattern, size and target audience. Some may look optional, but filling them in helps TikTok match your product with the right searches.

Describe the product honestly

Your description should cover the features and benefits, the materials, the dimensions and specifications, what comes in the package, any care or usage instructions, and important warnings. Break key points into short paragraphs or bullet points, and avoid unsupported claims or external links. You can also add a short product video in MP4, MOV, MKV or AVI format, with an aspect ratio between 9:16 and 16:9 and a size of up to 100 MB. Video is optional for many products, but it shows shoppers how the item looks or works.

Set up variations, SKUs and pricing

If your product comes in several options, add variations such as size or color, and upload the matching image for each one. Enter a valid product identifier for every SKU, such as a UPC, EAN, GTIN, ISBN or JAN, and give each variation its own Seller SKU in a consistent structure, which matters most if you also sell on other platforms. Set a retail price that covers your costs and fees, and remember that the list price must be equal to or higher than the retail price. For quantity, count only stock that is ready to sell, so you avoid overselling and cancellations. If the product has sizes, add a size chart with accurate measurements.

Complete every compliance field

Depending on your category, TikTok Shop may ask for materials, safety warnings, certifications, manufacturer details or dangerous goods information. Complete every required field accurately. Never pick a random value just to get past a requirement, because missing or incorrect details can lead to rejection or enforcement action.

Measure your shipping details

Enter the weight and dimensions of the package after it has been boxed and wrapped, not just the product itself. TikTok may pre-fill estimates based on similar products, so replace them with your real figures. TikTok Shop uses this information to estimate shipping charges and decide which shipping methods are available.

Review before you submit

Before sending anything, open the Listing Quality panel. Fix every Critical Issue, look at the items under Needs Attention because they can affect approval, and treat Suggestions as optional improvements. Preview how your product will appear in TikTok Shop and in search results, and check that the title, images, price, variations and shipping details agree with each other. Then save the listing as a draft or submit it for review. You can follow its progress under Products and Manage Products, where it will show as Pending review before it becomes Live.

Uploading in bulk? Watch for these errors

When you use the Excel template, the most common problems are broken image URLs, missing required fields, prices written with symbols instead of plain numbers like 19.99, duplicate SKUs, and category names that don’t match TikTok’s taxonomy. Image links must be publicly accessible, otherwise TikTok cannot pull the pictures into your listing.

If a listing is rejected

Rejections are common and usually easy to fix. Typical causes are poor image quality, an incomplete description, a prohibited item, misleading pricing, missing shipping information, a variant that doesn’t match its image, or a category mismatch. Edit the flagged field and click Resubmit. Second reviews tend to be faster because TikTok already has the product on file.
